Registry cleaner just removes unnecessary items in your registry. Usually left over entries from programs that you’ve removed. The purpose of it is to make your operating system faster. A spyware program will detect and (hopefully) remove any malware that gets placed on your machine. This might have a similar side effect of making your machine faster, but its primary purpose is to remove stuff that can potentially steal data, open security holes on your computer, and/or place popups and other bothersome programs on your computer.
